Enrolment changes in 2013

Due to changes in our funding agreement with TEC there will be changes made for 2013 enrolments.

These changes only impact on those people who have an overseas pharmacy qualification and are looking to gain the necessary qualification to work as a Pharmacy Technician in NZ.

To complete your qualification it will be necessary for you to enroll with the Open Polytechnic to complete your training programme. Recognition for your overseas qualification will still be given.

Existing PITO trainees are unaffected and you will continue with your programmes.

All NZ new trainee technicians will continue to enroll with the Open Polytechnic as usual.

Please contact us in the first instance and we can supply you with the information to suit your situation.

Literacy profiles

Literacy Profiles provide in-depth descriptions of all the literacy and numeracy tasks within a particular job and identify the literacy and numeracy skills required to complete them. PITO has partnered with Workbase to create profiles for both Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.

Literacy Profiles are particularly useful for ITOs developing industry qualifications and arranging training, and for trainers or tutors involved in workplace, industry or vocational training.

For both of these roles a Literacy on the Job document has been produced from the profile.

This provides a brief list of the main or crucial literacy and numeracy tasks in a job and how frequently these are performed. These documents are useful for employers, career counsellors and employees wanting to gain an overview of the literacy and numeracy in a job.
